Scaled to your weight

Ten thousand steps was a brand.

In 1965 a Japanese company sold a pedometer called the manpo-kei, which translates as ten thousand step meter. The name became a global health target without ever having been a finding. Here is what your steps are actually worth.

The arithmetic runs in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Method
Energy cost from the MET value for walking, scaled by your bodyweight, with about 100 steps per minute at a normal pace. A heavier body burns more per step, which is why one step count cannot suit everyone.
Limits
This counts the walking only. It does not subtract what you would have burned sitting, so treat it as a comparison between walks rather than a precise ledger.
